The Symmetry Spey reel was my original prototype reel. I have stuck many o' fish with this size reel. My original reel has been through the ringer. I do feel bad for the darn thing; it has been kicked around in my car, dropped on cement, fallen on rocks(hard, by the way - my rod broke in half and I moused up my knee), not taken care of at all and mistreated in every way I could think of. I have never switched the grease or changed pawls or springs. This has really taken a lick'n and still kept tick'n.
This truly is my personal favorite sized machine. There is a good wide spool which looks great on a spey rod. It comes with the full options of winding plates: titanium, brass and aluminium. With this array of weighting options, anglers have more options for rod length and still have balance between rod and reel. With a base weight of 12.5 oz, this would be a great match for a 14/15/16 foot spey.
